The Ibis gets a bad wrap, often called “bin chickens” because they scavenge in human refuse. These wetland birds have changed their habitat and diet to survive the loss of their wild homes.

The doctors during the Black Plague wore a black mask with a long beak nose to hide herbs and flowers in to repel the smell of death. These doctors would have looked a lot like our ibis, this bird that picks through rubbish.

On our plague doctors beak are 3 green tree frogs and a near threatened tusked frog.
